Mobbed

Mobbed

Here is another one from yesterday's Golden Eagle sighting. Normally, I'm not a fan of crows. They tend to case subjects off of perches. However, in this instance, the crows mobbed this guy into flying right over my head. You take it as you get it, I guess.

Technical: I converted this in the new Lightroom 4 Beta. This is going to be a very good upgrade. The fine level of control and the soft proofing are both worth the upgrade, alone.

Golden Eagle

Golden Eagle

Here is a photo of a Golden Eagle that I took today. I photographed it in the exact location that I photographed a bird last February. Last week, I photographed a Golden Eagle about 3 miles south of this location. At first, I thought that it was probably the returning juvenile from last year. However, now I'm not so sure. This bird looks a lot like the juvenile from last year, but the photo I took last week, looks like an older bird, with much less white. If this is true, then there are two sub-adult GEs in Aldergrove. Regardless, there is at least one big beautiful bird that, the residence say, has been taking ducks from the local ponds. Hopefully, I'll get lucky and get a predation shot.

Squeaks

Squeaks

I always find it funny to hear a harrier's little squeaky call. They look like they would have a strong hawk call, but they don't. In reality, there call is like a babies squeak toy going off.

Rats!!!

Rats!!!

It was hilarious to see this guy raiding this fruit, right under the noses of all the raptors on the dyke. There were harriers and short-eared owls flying all around the area. Inclement weather definitely leads to risk taking.

Golden Eagle

Golden Eagle

I love these guys. That golden wash on the neck gets me every time. I believe that this is the same sub-adult that visited me last winter.

Note: This is a severe crop.
