4,000 March in Washington to Free ‘Scottsboro Boys’ – 1933
Several thousand demonstrators marched in a steady rain for more than six miles through the city May 8, 1933 to demand freedom for the “Scottsboro Boys.”
Marchers are shown here on West Executive Avenue between the White House and what is now known as the Old Executive Office Building. West Executive Avenue is closed to the public today.
