Headin' Downtown and Away

Headin' Downtown and Away by The Wandering Angel.
Even if an angel were to roll away
the stone that sealed my heart,
he won't find you in it
any longer.

I did clean up the wound
and washed away the pain
the best I could
as far as my heart allowed.

I hid you under layers
of linen-like distraction
perhaps this will keep me
from remembering.

You were overlaid with flowers
and orchids,
to help me forget your scent
all the days that you will be gone.

I don't mind you
being in my heart a long time.
But, it must have been too long
for you're no longer there.
