NYC - Times Square: Candler Building - McDonalds
Built as the New York headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company and named after its founder Asa Candler. Above the decorative 4th-floor spandrels, the shaft rises in three uninterrupted bays of windows, ending in arches that echo the base. The Candler sets an important precedent, because it was one of the most successful solutions to the problem of building on a midblock site.
The first couple floors are occupied by McDonalds Time Square. It features over 200 seats and an environment that includes hand painted murals, a Statue of Liberty replica and an 80 sq. ft. diorama of the New York City.
