NYC - Chinatown: Mott and Pell

Mott Street was named for Jacob Mott, a wealthy merchant who served as the city's deputy mayor and as alderman from 1804 to 1810.

Pell Street is named for the John Pell, who inherited his uncle, Thomas Pell's estate. Thomas Pell received the greater part of what is now Westchester county (hence Pelham) in a grant from British governor Colonel Thomas Dongon at the end of the 17th century.
