Later, on McDonald Lake

Later, on McDonald Lake

This is our first night in Glacier National Park in Montana--on the south end of McDonald Lake near Apgar Village. This photo was taken after we ate dinner. Such a beautiful sight! By the way, if you're on the west end of Glacier, eat at Eddies--the food there is delicious, reasonably priced, and they have a different menu from the official park eateries. After eating in the park for a week, their variety is very important.

The weather was in the 70s, there were people, but it wasn't overcrowded the week we were in Glacier (basically the last week of June). After a few days I made a list of the flowers we'd seen and there were over 60! But, in early July some of the places are going to explode into bloom. There were areas where lots of buds were forming.

Fairy-bells

Fairy-bells

These are actually called Rough-Fruited Fairy-Bells and are from the Lily Family. They were on the trail to Apgar Lookout on the west side of Glacier National Park.

Back on the trail

Back on the trail

This was on the way back from our hike to Apgar Lookout (on the west side of Glacier National Park). It was one of three black tailed deer we saw on 3 different trails who preferred the smoothness of the trail to the forest. This one stepped off the trail when it saw us coming. Then it casually walked around us and rejoined the trail on the other side.
