Come on--how much more of this are we expected to take? I managed to get 4.675 gallons of regular for $20! I thought these prices were supposed to *peak* around the 4th of July but here it is on July 7 and the price shot up by another 8 cents a gallon today--yippee. Hey, sorry independent grocery store owner--I can only afford to shop at Walmart.. Hey, sorry small business man running a non-chain restaurant. I enjoy your place but that extra little bit that I had to take the family out to eat once a week, well, that doesn't exist anymore either. Rockford, IL Mobil station on Harrison Ave.

Guys! America has about the cheapest petrol/gas in the developed world. Every other government puts big taxes on it to discourage use. Here in my home town it is $1.60 per litre today, which my trusty calculator says is $US 5.78 per gallon. And Australia is still seen by Europeans and others as having cheap petrol!! So, you guys still have it good.

But... oil is running out, demand and supply says the price is only gonna go up. And carbon trading will also increase the price... but remember, what we burn in our cars today, our kids breathe tomorrow. I love driving, but am resigned to big changes coming soon (just not too soon I hope). Maybe a Prius next time???

Surveys say that theres atleast 40 years of oil left, although thats what we have found!! What about the oil that we haven't found? The countries, that because of politics we can't just go straight in and extract it? Iraq has only just got back 90% of the oil wells back in operation since the war. Just remember that many of you in Canada and Europe who say are gas seems cheap in America that too many of us are paying full price for health care and prescription drugs. My ONE prescription costs me $750 a month, add to that Chicago's $70 a reg tank of gas...

I've been paying $4.60/gallon in SF and LA for weeks, minimum (at pretty common stops). Although everyone around the world keeps telling us how great we have it even then, our $ SUCKS compared to everyone right now, and gas production SHOULD be and CAN be cheaper in the US right now. We have a right and reason to complain about it.

But I don't think the oil/gas companies are through screwing us over yet - they know how much we can be screwed for before we take action, and it's a LONG way off.

We are far enough from being boiled frogs for the Oil Corporations to still feel safe, and I can definitely see $6-$7 per gallon by the end of summer next year.
