the blue is the aquarium background... the
octopus itself is pretty transparent, white
with brownish-yellow spots. and no, not my
pet. he costs a few thousand dollars...!
such deadly beasts. they can change colour
shape and texture. one day they are going to
take over. such fine plumage this specimen
has! i love his beak!
Beautiful! Apparently, octopi are fairly easy
too keep. They only live for a year, though.
Several thousand dollars seems a little
expensive for such a short-lived companion.
Apparently, octopi don't need a whole lot of
space - in the wild, they hide in small caves
for the best part of their lives. So don't
feel to bad for him.
You are famous now. PZ Myers found a copy of
this picture in Kidipede (freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula/2012/08/03/fr
iday-cephalo...). Does anybody know what species this is? Btw., where is "pj's pet shop"? I
guess it is somewhere on the other end of the
world.;-)

You can get a lot done in a year, if you have eight arms.

I think the poor thing looks very sad - and no wonder, being stuck in such a small tank.

Its so sad that a creature so regal would be reduced to a pet store tank.. someone should rescue it and return it to the ocean where it belongs!

I feel very sorry for him for being sold as a pet! But however, very nice photo. ;-)
