5/2/2009 Warrenton ACP 300k Brevet |
27 riders defied threatening weather
forecasts and showed up for the
Warrenton 300K ACP brevet. Fortunately,
the predicted rain mostly stayed away
(only 20 minutes or so of light rain)
and we were treated to a beautiful route
with dogwoods blooming in front of
postcard views of the mountains.
The route started at the Hampton Inn in
Warrenton, VA, then made a big
counter-clockwise loop as far south as
Boswell's Tavern, just east of
Charlottsville. The final control was a
dairy store where riders could refuel
with a delicious milkshake before the
final 55 miles back to Warrenton.
