Still life with isotainers
The ISO 6346 (freight container numbering) checksum algorithm, like several others, ends with a single character that represents a number in the range 0–10 inclusive. ISBN also suffers from this, and it simply uses the numerals 0–9 and the the letter X, and all is well. But ISO 6346 – oddly, since unlike ISBN it already deals in letters – recommends that you not assign numbers that checksum to 10. Weird.
Update: see super-fun contest here. Also, I’m not sure how to tag the numbers. I’ll go with bic:TEXU3284229 until someone says better. (Pallets, incidentally, are covered by ISO 6780.) Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
