one year since we uploaded our first flickr photo
what better way to celebrate than with a pie?

This pie pi has become something of a celebrity in its own right
It's been ripped off by several bloggers without permission
And one or two respectable websites with permission

It becomes particularly popular every March
Because a growing number of the world's maths nerds celebrate pi day on 14 March
(when the American date format reads 3.14)

This year (2009) it's been used by the National Geographic blog here

and no - nobody realises what an effect flickr can have until they're hooked

not sure if this is squared exactly enough for the squircle group
might have to upload another version to be allowed to submit

the pie was good
not completely sure about the virtues of changing buddy icon
but since it's exactly a year, and this seems to make a good little icon decided to go for it
pleased with it so far
hope we don't get sick of it before the end of the next 12 months

it's a cold chicken pie - with alternating layers of two mixtures
chicken, thyme, lemon juice, black pepper
sausage meat, spring onion, sage, and lemon zest
(sorry sosij - not veggie)

yes - very pleased with the crust
this recipe sometimes overflows with yummy mixture goodness
doesn't affect the taste
but the photos are much less appealing
this one turned out particularly well

I've really enjoyed following your Flickr over the last eight months. Thank you for the food creations, the photographs, and the commentary. It's been approximately 17 times more interesting than reading Waitrose Food Illustrated.

Amazing pie. A pie is one of those things that appears on the outside a very conservative and classical dish. And cutting a pie can be a very formal matter. But as soon as you start eating, mmmm the layers of chicken, thyme, sage, sausage meat - it's a highly emotional affair. I think your photo sums up quite nicely how buttoned-up the British pies like to be. Lovely. (And now I want some.)
