January afternoon on the Pacific Ocean, looking north at the cliffs off Three Mile Beach, a remote beach three miles north of Santa Cruz, California. These are seastacks of Miocene Mudstone. Massive sea cliffs of Santa Cruz Mudstone are capped with a thick alluvial cover and marine terrace deposits. This is a 2.5 second exposure through a 9-stop neutral density filter.

A red barn awaits the sunrise on the northern slope of the Dry Creek Valley, among the recently harvested gnarled old-vine Zinfandel grape vines, set ablaze in the autumn vineyard foliage. This is a typical autumn scene in the Dry Creek Valley AVA of Sonoma county, near the town of Healdsburg, California.
