Yours truly holding a 10,000,000 candlepower spotlight in multiple positions during a long exposure. It's not a flashlight, it's a damned light cannon.
I borrowed this light from a tool-hound at work who collects tools as toys, and everyone was pretty damn impressed with the light it threw. It's called the Thor-X, from Cyclops Solutions, and has a 100 watt halogen bulb that tosses out crazy amounts of light. I just purchased 2 more last night.

Ya, I like this straight on angle a lot better than my off center one: www.flickr.com/photos/8794204@N02/2101742619/

It was great that we all chose to setup in different places and shoot differently. We gotta hang out with those fellows again ... between all of us, we were prepared for anything. Maybe some BBQ next time.

This is awesome!! What kind of power does that Thor-X take? What would be cool is adding some colored "gels" in front, that is, if they don't melt immediately!
Pro-Zak (66 months ago | reply)
Aaron, it's a 12V 7Ah lead-acid battery, and indeed the face of the spot gets quite warm. The diffuser that I brought along with me for these shots was a simple styrofoam paper plate, but I'm sure I can figure out something better. Colored would be awesome!

Great picture! I bought one of those spotlights because of this picture.
Pro-Zak (65 months ago | reply)
^ Great, as long as you didn't get them from Amazon or Northern Industrial. The one you get isn't the one advertised.

The one I found is 15 million candle power. It works well but there is not much warning when it is about to die.

I was intrigued by the 15MCP, but tried to get the 10 for the significantly longer battery life. Defintely a beast!
