Kotagiri, Tamilnadu

Kotagiri is a hidden jewel among the hill stations of South India. Though It receives lesser footfalls than its big cousins Ooty & Coonoor but by no means, it is any less beautiful. I would rather rate it a notch higher. Kotagiri is home to various orchards and tea estates. A walk through the misty tea-beds is sure to rejuvenate your body and mind.

Honey Valley, Coorg

Honey valley is a wonderful homestay in the middle of a dense forest, near the capital of Coorg district. Its proximity to few of the best treks in south India makes it quite popular. Our hosts Suresh Chengappa and his Canadian friend Jack were one of the most knowledgeable people, I've met during my travels. Suresh has encyclopedic knowledge about Coorgi culture. The food served by his wife was authentic coorgi and home made and so was the electricity. A small private hydroelectric turbine generates their energy needs. It rained incessantly during my stay but a well-stocked library and hot coffee kept me busy.

Honey valley was India's biggest honey producer until a virus, about 10 years back wiped the bees. Now Suresh dabbles with coffee, cardamom and spice plantation at his estate which spans 76 acres. Whether you're looking for adventure, nature walk, trekking, angling , food or just relaxing - Honey valley provides amazing value for money. Better View
