Former Boy Scout George Takei (and TV icon) joined Ohio mom Jennifer Tyrrell and GLAAD in a stand against the Boy Scouts' anti-gay policies at the NYC Pride Parade on June 24, 2012.
Taken across the street from where it all began, The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York City.
The first March was held in 1970, and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect. The grand marshals for 2012's NYC Pride March were Cyndi Lauper, Chris Salgardo and Phyllis Siegel & Connie Kopelov.
