The Cynics

The Pont des Arts in Paris has become a hotspot for couples, who write their names on a padlock, fasten it to the bridge, and then throw the key into the Seine below.

Using a combination lock instead doesn't quite capture the symbolism...

The current Pont des Arts bridge was built in the 1980s to replace its partially collapsed, but otherwise identical predecessor, dating from 1804.
