The Kitzsteinhorn is a mountain in the main chain of the Alps in the district of Kaprun, Salzburg, Austria. The Kitzsteinhorn is part of the Hohe Tauern range in the eastern Alps and reaches a height of 3,203 m. The paragliding launch site is located at 3020 m in the area immediately south of the summit station of the inclined elevator about 100 m above the glacier Schmiedinger. The starting direction is southwest. Challenging the grid because of the soil should be only snow. The wind should come from west to south-west and not greater than 20 km / h. The route crosses the Schmiedinger Kees and if possible the ridge direction Maiskogel. The landing site is located in Fuerth. Max. height difference is 2248m for this site

De Kitzsteinhorn is één bergtop in In het hart van Oostenrijk. De Kitzsteinhorn maakt deel uit van de Hoge Tauern in de Centrale Alpen en bereikt een hoogte van 3203 meter. De paragliding lancering site is gelegen op 3020 m in het gebied direct ten zuiden van het bergstation van de hellende lift ongeveer 100 m boven de gletsjer Schmiedinger. Het uitgangspunt richting zuidwesten. De wind moet komen van west naar zuid-westen en niet meer dan 20 km / h. De route doorkruist het Schmiedinger Kees en indien mogelijk richting Maiskogel. De landingsplaats bevindt zich in Fuerth. De max hoogte verschil is 2248m.

Paragliding is the competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a hollow fabric wing whose shape is formed by its suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside. Brakes: Controls held in each of the pilot’s hands connect to the trailing edge of the left and right sides of the wing. These controls are called 'brakes' and provide the primary and most general means of control in a paraglider. The brakes are used to adjust speed, to steer (in addition to weight-shift), and flare during landing. Weight Shift: In addition to manipulating the brakes, a paraglider pilot must also lean in order to steer properly.
Een parapente of glijscherm is een soepele, uit doek gemaakte vleugel waarmee men kan zweven. Het woord stamt af van de parachute, waar het deel 'chute' vervangen werd door 'pente'. Waar de 'chute' stond voor 'val', staat 'pente' voor 'helling', omdat de glijschermpiloten van berghellingen vertrekken en eromheen vliegen. In tegenstelling tot de 'ronde bol' parachute, die niet goed bestuurbaar is, is een glijscherm goed bestuurbaar. De besturing wordt mogelijk gemaakt door de twee stuurlijnen. Hiermee worden de rechter- en linkerkant van de vleugel geremd, waardoor de parapente in richting van het geremde kant vliegt. Verder kan met deze twee stuur- of eigenlijk remlijnen ook de snelheid van het scherm verlaagd worden.

A beautiful mountains of the Kitzsteinhorn where the paragliders sail down over the alpine mountains - Austria. An overwhelming bird's eye view is just reserved to a couple paragliders. Enjoying his or her airy cocpit view above snowy peaks, past cliffy rocks with all of its magnificence.
Voor de fanatiekeling zijn er mogelijkheden om een tandem vlucht te maken. Spannend zo hangend onder een paraglider van prachtige vergezichten genieten. Stevige schoenen en een beetje moed zijn hiervoor voldoende. Het is een cliché, maar letterlijk vliegen zo vrij als een vogel, wie wil dat niet?
