The one thing that's free in Portofino is its scenery, which you can enjoy on an amble around the town. This photo taken from Castello Brown which is built to ward off invading Turks. You can step inside the walls to enjoy a lush garden and the views of the town and harbor below. There are great views back over the town; for some lovely views like this on this stretch of coast and plenty of open sea before you. You can even go higher up through lovely Cypresses and pine forests to the faro (lighthouse).

Het bergachtige schiereiland waarop Portofino gelegen is heeft de status van regionaal natuurpark. De Monte di Portofino is met zijn 612 meter de hoogste top. Deze foto is genomen van Castello Brown waar vroeger geschoten werd op binnenvallende Turken. Je kunt binnen de muren genieten van een weelderige tuin en van een geweldig uitzicht op de haven van Portofino en van de mooie Cipressen en pijnboombossen die doorlopen tot de vuurtoren.
