After spending way too much time editing this image in Photoshop, I discovered I'd approached the issue of adding a bokeh effect and HDR enhancement in the wrong order, and had to compensate by applying a noise filter on the bokeh layer to approximate the noise level in the foreground. It's not perfect, but still acceptable for viewing on a monitor, I think. And I'm too lazy to start the process from scratch to get it just right.
