Overlooking Paradise

Overlooking Paradise

Press L!

Certainly one of the most gorgeous views to be had in RMNP made even better by a heavy dusting of fresh snow! It was great to get out and shoot on such a calm and peaceful morning. Days without wind are rare in the winter! That was made abundantly clear when we hiked up Flattop mountain on Saturday morning and were greeted by these wonderful conditions.

It took me a while to convince myself that this was decent enough to post, so if you'd like please rip this photo apart in the comments. I want to become a better photographer!

Indian Peaks Twilight Magnificence

Indian Peaks Twilight Magnificence

The Indian Peaks begin to glow in this shot from Brainard Lake about 35 minutes before sunrise (notice the faint stars in the large version). It took a half dozen tries, but I finally got some great conditions at this location!

If you're interested, I've started a new page on my site which logs the hikes I make in search of photos like this. Check it out and give me feedback if you'd like! www.erikpagephotography.com/hikelog

Lenticular Clouds Over Longs Peak

Lenticular Clouds Over Longs Peak

Press L, then come back and comment!

Got skunked at sunset, then came around a corner to see this spectacular lenticular cloud hanging out above Longs Peak and Glacier Gorge, still being gently lit by some lingering twilight. The orange coloration is due to light pollution from Denver in the distance.

As usual, constructive criticism is more than welcomed!

American Lakes Basin

American Lakes Basin

This one really needs to be viewed on black. Hit L on your keyboard!

Sunrise from my favorite camping spot this summer near American Lakes in Colorado State Forest State Park.

What do you guys think about the processing and composition on this one?? Honest critique, please!

I'm extremely curious about how this place looks in the winter. Anyone up for an ~8 mile sunrise hike in a couple months??

Peace in the Valley

Peace in the Valley

Got to RMNP with plans to go somewhere new, but the wind was absurd (50 mph+ with gusts that made the trees look like limp noodles), so I decided to just head up to Dream Lake. I think it worked out, as I got there just in time to catch the almost full moon setting behind Flattop Mountain. A truly amazing experience!

Sorry for the long absence, school is severely limiting my photo and internet time!
