Well, I could wear 10 prim heavy outfits for one specific hairstyle... (the one with ivory and red). So it depends highly on how they are made. Besides, this is not the only reason for lag. I don't think we should give up 'who we are' because of we now finally have the numbers. But wearing a hair style that makes the ARC go +5000 on a busy sim, just might not be a very nice thing to do. ;)

Indeed, embracing your inner Greenie means less client-side lag for you and the people around you. We should test RAC figures some more, though. And maybe also some of the prim outfits we have. I do think it makes some sense giving people an estimated RAC for the stuff they buy. (But of course, all those measures should be taken on a 'fixed' distance from the item's Avatar Rendering Cost you are looking into.

I'm not changing my look for this option. Running dual 9800's even 8800s gave me no problems. Even a 7950 when I had it was fine.

Blooddoll, sure, and it's not the only thing influencing the performance of the client, but do keep into account that not everyone has top notch (or even mediocre) PCs. And what if +50 people have heavy ARC? I still think it's something to take into account at huge events like fairs, fashion shows, etc.
