Infrared by Noon

Infrared by Noon

This was shot quite a while back using my RM720 infrared filter. I had it processed already, not sure why I had not posted this before!

The D90 has a very good IR filter built in so the exposure times are generally high when shooting with the RM720.

Star Trails over Maine

Star Trails over Maine

In all fairness, this is one of my shoddy jobs at star trails. I had a good idea what I wanted to do but with the temperatures < -15 deg C and a little bit of wind, together spoiled this attempt. Although the low temperatures did help with low sensor noise. I am overall very disappointed with the branches blurry due to the slight movement caused by wind.

This trails was shot for around 3hours, 30sec exposure each shot with delay of 1sec between shot. Stacked in photoshop. Shot with my Tokina 11-16mm lens and adjusted for some lens correction in photoshop.

Twins

Twins

This is a combination of two sequential images shot at Rumford, Maine. I love this image for the shadows on the wall of the house, the vines, the stars and of course the two gorgeous shooting stars, each traveling in opposite direction almost look as though they are going to collide! Apocalyptic.

This was originally intended to be part of a star trails picture but I decided to forget about the star trails picture as the branches on the left side of this image moved significantly to make the subsequent stacked star trails image look horrendous. By the way, this was shot in the night when the temperature was a bone chilling -18 deg C so yes I am very very frustrated that the bloody twigs moved around a bit too much!

Haunted by Sunset

Haunted by Sunset

Shot at Mt. Washington on a very grey evening just about sunset beyond the mountains. The place was barren and had a haunted feel to it as there still hadn't been enough snow for activities. I felt a black and white image would do more justice to the greyish nature. I did like the halo around the mountains during sunset though.
