Rudy on cat draught excluder

Rudy on cat draught excluder

Rudy, who came from a colony of 82 feral and semi-feral cats - ALL un-neutered - who were orphaned when the eccentric bachelor recluse who was "responsible" for this colony died nearly a year ago.

Rexie on cat draught excluder

Rexie on cat draught excluder

Little Rexie, who was only given just over five months here with us. One morning when Barry got up, Rexie was cold and stiff on his beloved sheepskin. We assume that he had a massive stroke in his sleep, and also that Rexie was a lot older than it was originally thought.

Rexie came from a colony of 82 feral and semi-feral cats - ALL un-neutered - who were orphaned when the eccentric bachelor recluse who was "responsible" for this colony died nearly a year ago.

Hampstead, odd range of windows, London, England

Hampstead, odd range of windows, London, England

A roof extension on a narrow, typically English house dating from Victorian times (ca 1880s? or 1890s?). The architect or builder has come up with a rather imaginative way of designing this extra added story on top of the original roof.

This is in Fleet Road, close to the junction with Lawn Road, Hampstead, north London.

The range of different designs of windows does look rather odd, though, to say the least!

Ghost sign, Hampstead NW, London, England

Ghost sign, Hampstead NW, London, England

A ghost sign on the gable of an old building in Heath Street (just before it turns into Fitzjohn's Avenue), on the corner of Church Row, Hampstead NW, north London. This sign has obviously been renewed at some point, as the blue lettering is quite legible by daylight, when you are actually looking at the sign in real life.

The lettering says:

Established 1746
Chas B
King
Estate
Agent
Decorator
Gas
Hot Water
and
Sanitary
Engineer

Rather an interesting, oddly assorted range of skills he had, Mr Charles B. King of long ago!

Hoover Building, Art Deco, 1932, Perivale, London; side entrance

The Hoover Building on the Western Avenue (A40) in Perivale, Middlesex, West London, is an example of Art Deco architecture, designed by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners, and built in 1932.

It is celebrated in the song "Hoover Factory" by Elvis Costello.
