The Battle Of Britain Memorial sits on the Embankment near to Whitehall and Downing Street and across from the London Eye.
This section of the sculpture depicts the ever watchful eyes of those who defended our country. The 30,000 strong Observer Corps stationed around the south and east coast of England watched the air to detect German enemy raiders. After RDF (Radio Direction Finder), they were the next line of defence and crucial for the relaying of information back to Uxbridge.
The sculptor is Paul Day.
