Vicki did a boo-boo. I left bird seed on the deck yesterday and we had a bedtime visitor. The dogs weren't happy. We didn't sleep.

He was back today to finish what he started! Cute raccoon - bigger than both of our dogs!

Silver Bell - nature's Christmas ornaments

This is the first in a series of "nature's Christmas ornaments" that I'll be posting from now until Christmas. These beautiful pods range in color from green to gold to silver. The rabbits have been eating them but I believe they are poisonous to humans. The plants resemble tomato plants.

>>My plant expert pal Hal Massie says that these are ground cherries, Physalis angulata. I Googled them and read that they are edible (but don't take my word for it!), in the nightshade family (which are often poisonous), related to Cape Gooseberries (look just like them), and some species are called Chinese Lanterns.
