Nature's Geometry

CyberShot 4.1 Mega Pixel - snowflake from this morning on the balcony.
Using a CyberShot point and shoot camera, I built an additional small lens adapter with a piece of glass from a Minolta 200mm that died.
Adapter is short enough for Cybershot flash to illuminate, works great. :-)

To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and
install the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player.

Thanks for all the comments on this snowflake. The lens isn't actually taped on. I hold it up in front from the underside and use almost the full optical zoom to get rid of the barrel effect.

If you have an older lens, you can usually spin it around and get something out of it using a point and shoot. Always be careful of the lens scratch factor.

Canon claims that my S3 IS, when it's put in SuperMacro mode, will focus down to 0mm. I believe it, too, given the few experiments I've made with it. But my experiments have also been without the close-up lens they make for it. I'll have to try that combo sometime, too.
