Fairford flares
This is my favourite photo of USAF Fairford (which is in the UK) in 2003. I like it because it captures the sinister atmosphere of the base. F*ck knows what the US military were up to on this day, setting off flares left, right and centre.
The British government handed over this base to the USAF so they could fly from here to Iraq and kill ordinary people with their bombs. The government spent nearly £8m policing the peaceful protest camp using anti-terrorism legislation. £8m and not one, NOT ONE peace campaigner was convicted. Value for money? I think not.
