The Shoe, the Store, the Man and the End of Royalty.....

So there I was, with camera in car in case something happened, and it did. Odd stuff but I drove into the car park at Sainsbury's in Straiton tonight (4/10/07) and there on the kerb between the road passing the store door and the first disabled parking space, was a high heeled shoe. Just the one..... looking forlorn and other -worldly. I went back and got my camera.

Tried different shots then a guy drove past and started wittering on from his car window about it being art and unusual - bit odd - he was not exactly Brian Sewell - a little garbled but good natured. He drove on. I continued taking pictures....

So I went on shooting and could see that the sign and the shoe with some flash would be good then the thought went through my mind "Needs a person in it, interacting with it" and lo, the guy came back and started going on about how the days of the royal family are numbered and "Diana was seen off, wasn't she!?" (My Dad always said that "Diana" stood for "Died In A Nasty Accident").

So I didn't ask and just shot with him in the picture half-expecting to get hit on the back of the head either by the bloke or the local Neds attracted by the flash but no, it worked and I like this because I constructed it on the spot, on the fly, in the moment. As Tracy said, "That's art, that is!"
