I raise my chalice to you

To all my Flickr contacts: As I approach 10,000 views, I am deeply grateful for your words of encouragement and kind comments, awards and faves on my shots since first posting on Flickr. As a rank amateur, you've offered me insight, wisdom, ideas and loads of inspiration! Your kind generosity has made this level of exposure something this introvert no longer has to hyperventilate about (this is huge for me!) LOL
Your myriad talents and expressions of beauty on Flickr have been delightful gifts to my spirit; I am most grateful for you all !! Slainte!

sweet Ichabod's lair by verdant_eye (in & out)

sweet Ichabod's lair

I'm mining from the summer archives now ....
Hostas flowers are often overlooked, but I think they've got some real heft to them beauty-wise.

(Ichabod was a dear, gangly and very sickly feral feline who would hide under the hosta leaves. I walked up my sidewalk one day two summers ago and felt the presence of eyes on me. I looked around, saw nothing, but was curious about the intuition. I sat on the front stoop for a while and continued to look around. Eventually, my eyes found the pair that had been watching me --- from under the hostas --- and as soon as my eyes met his, he darted away ... such is the fear of the feral. That was the beginning of a summer-long relationship of my working diligently to earn his trust so I could get him to my vet for help. The end result was not what I hoped for, but it was what that dear spirit needed. It breaks my heart that the only time he ever had his little head kissed was a farewell, and that he spent most of his hard life unknown to others. There is now a memorial stone w/his name on it where he once sought refuge, and his ashes have nourished this flower. He was known to me. He had a name ... and it was Ichabod.)

This shot is dedicated to my very talented contact Abizeleth who calls this area home. If you haven't already, do take a stroll past her 'stream; you'll not be disappointed!

woodland fort

Another shot from (my favorite garden within) Sonnenberg Gardens. If I were permitted, I'd set up a tea table in this faeries' lair.
