Related to my blog post about the new branding. Asked a few questions to Adobe too.

I find them quite intriguing. At first I wondered why Adobe would switch to such simple icons. However, if you examine the extent and amount of logos that Adobe contains now after acquiring Macromedia it almost seems logical and more appropriate. For them to have continued in the more complicated icon direction for all of the programs I think it would have actually been more complicated when viewing icons on the dock. These are more easily identifiable to me, large letter and colors to differentiate. I also think it is nice to have such simple icons to stand in contrast to the vibrant packaging. Adobe obvioulsy considered all of the angles, the entire collection and various packaging, manuals, website and took all of this elements into consideration before creating this family of icons. They are starting to grow on me and I actually like the reference whether planned or unplanned to the Periodic Table.
