Shirks Run enter Black Moshannon Lake

Shirks Run enter Black Moshannon Lake

01/25/09

Steve and I took a day hike around Black Moshannon Lake on the Moss-Hanne Trail. Steve was trying out his new lightweight snowshoes and I decided to just bare-boot it for the day. Conditions were pretty minimal; only about 2' of snow in some places and an icy crust on the surface.

-----------
Andrew, Beth, Steve, Nicole, Bekah and I all headed up to Black Moshannon State Park in Centre County for a weekend cabin trip. Beth is involved with DCNR so she was able to secure one of the staff cabins for us. Centre County at the end of January is pretty cold, but it was a great trip.

I managed to explore just about every trail in the park on multiple hikes. I also did some trail running which was quite an experience in 2 feet of snow!

Bekah and I headed out for a quick hike. There's an old ski slope at the northern edge of the park.
