"Remember me on this computer" it the start of a bad relationship
The "remember me on this computer" has to be one of the worst statements that is put before people on websites. It is a bad relationship from the beginning and you know it. I imagine it would be akin to dating an amnesiac.
1) It is not the computer that remembers you, it is the browser. Change browsers and you get the cold shoulder of "who are you?" 2) This scenario always will fail. So get used to it. Same browser you said you wanted it to remember things, but you come back and that familiar "who are you?" again. The most honest approach is to say "We will try to remember you in this browser, but no promises. Okay? Have you tried using a password safe on your device, if that is your device, and you are using your own private account on that machine." - thanks to Brian Oberkirch for triggering this. This is why "remember me" without any thing else is used.
