Erik, it 'sounds/looks' vietnamese to me,
although I could be totally off of course -
luckily I checked your profile, or I would
have started speaking Dutch to you (although
you could have dutch roots of course)
This photo is great and the subtitle makes
it even better :D Congrats with the (almost
there) new baby too :) My daughters are 17
months apart and they still are taken for
twins regularly. Eldest started to walk on
the day youngest was born. "I've got a
little sister now, I'm a big girl, I can walk
by myself now!" Yep, talking she did
already before she was one...

@Reinhilde: Yes, Erik is Dutch alright, from
Groningen, to be precise (this is his wife
Dragana speaking). We're psyched for the day
the two little ones start playing together!
It'll be interesting to hear what language
they will speak to each other! Right now,
Papa speaks to Lola in Dutch, I speak to her
in Serbian, and she hears us talk in English
between us!

@ Dragana: Cool! The more languages they
hear in the beginning, the easier they will
find it to learn even more languages later
on! You have to be strict though and not mix
her up by you speaking Dutch and Erik
Serbian, because then they get confused :)
My two have been brought up dutch/english
(their dad, my - now - ex) is Mauritian, but
he didn't speak Creole but only english to
them. I always spoke dutch. They spoke
dutch until they went to playschool (we lived
in London - UK) and from one day to another
they only spoke english - although I still
kept on speaking dutch to them, they always
answered in english. When we moved back to
Belgium (3 years ago) they switched almost
immediately to spoken dutch in school -
writing took a few months - and from the
moment they started fighting and arguing in
dutch I knew their english period was behind
them - now I only shout at them in english
when I'm really aggrevated :D
Good luck with your multilingual children -
they have a firm advantage in life :)

oh my... i came to this photo b/c i was
looking at the favorites of someone who added
a photo of my daughter as a favorite...
thought she'd have more cute kid photos in
her favorites... and here this was. something
in this photo reminds me a bit of my
daugther... who we almost named lola (after
my grandmother)... but she was a nona in
stead. great photos... very inspiring.
