Just saw one of these last weekend stuck to
the Chicago El Red line at Lawrence. Not sure
if it's still there, but sweet indeed.

Oh my gosh, the Boston police are such
fucktards for continually classifying this as
a "hoax". No. It's not. It's an
advertising campaign. And apparently, it's
more advanced than Boston can comprehend with
100% of their brain.

If it's a hoax, and these are hoax aliens,
then I guess I can disassemble the
Speak-N-Spell and the satellite dish?

I heard about this on NPR, but they didn't
mention Adult Swim, ATHF, or any details.
Somehow I KNEW it involved Ignignot and Er.
That's the only way I could figure they were
being so vague about the details. AWESOME.
Now I have something to do with my Lite
Brite.

Gee, I wonder why they call us New Englanders
uptight? I cannot BELIEVE a cartoon character
threatened anyone in Boston. Sure, we'll let
any terrorist board a plane to New York...but
a light bright??? That's just crazy!

Those are great! I don't get how those guys
are being charged with it being a
"hoax," A hoax of what? they never
said they were bombs. when People get upset
over what are essentially High tech
Lite-Brites thats pretty sad.

If this is a bomb then I would warn IKEA and
other retailers in case Boston Police start
"defusing" alarm clocks all over
the freakin' shop...

My favorite part is that they saw this
design... a pixellated alien flipping them
off... and thought, "BY GOD, IT'S
TERRORISTS!!11!1" A natural conclusion
that we would all draw, I'm sure.
I hope the city bigwigs realize the best
way to minimize embarrassment from this
already considerably embarrassing situation
(hilarious as it is to everyone not in the
Boston PD) is to quietly let it go away, not
press charges and keep attention on it.
Oh, and good job, getting a shot of one of
these explosive menaces in the lite-brited
flesh.

the only mildly weird thing about these is
the program in the one logic chip. it makes
the thing go into a test mode (blink then
solid then off) when you first put in
batteries. it takes maybe 1.5 - 2 hours of
darkness for them to turn on, and they do not
immediately go off when in light.
all that aside, that was for the specific
use these had. a homebrew one doesn't need
that. just 150 or so 10mm 3volt LEDs and some
basic circuit building knowledge. i did see
at least one DIY remake on ebay already. it
used a wall wart to power it and had a on/off
switch and didn't have the light sensor.
probably more useful for home use. it should
still be up there if you want to be inspired.

For the love of god our illustrious mayor
actually just tried to get this movie banned
in Boston. LET IT GO ALREADY! The theatres
told him to eat them. Pretty sure he did.

this thing would have gone better if they did
at least this:
tape a semi-clear envelope, like a shipping
invoice sticker, holding a paper with
information about the device.
Since the controversy's heat has gone cold,
it should be safe to make and sell these,
only for use as an inside decoration, though.
