Massive spray from the 8-foot waves pounding Santa Monica

Let me put the size of these waves in prespective:

These were taken from the bike path at the edge of the beach, which is around 500 feet from the water. Because the beach slopes down toward the ocean you usually don't see the waves at all from the bike path; Today you could see them from at least two blocks away.
