~ 'tis the season to be jolly ~

wish you all a jolly season my dear Flickr Friends (((:

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Yesterday i had the idea to "create" a candy-cane out of our light tower on Ajijic's Pier (in photoshop)... for this year's Christmas card. So i went to take this shot and then looked for a texture with snow flakes, or falling snow, but found this one to use for pre-christmas.... and possibly an other one i'll use for my card later ((:

but - i am still looking for a 'falling snow' texture... if anyone has come across one???

texture from  JoesSistah - Thank You!

passerby by uteart

passerby

"passerby" - a person who passes by, especially casually or by chance !!

and both applies to this encounter captured here (((:
... i'm happy to have been at the right place, at the right time, walking in Ajijic village (((:

BUT I HAVE TO CONFESS SOMETHING ..... while i was behind the lens and clicking away i kept saying out loud: "Que Belleza - que belleza - What a Beauty, what a beauty".... and then noticed it was a BOY, i really thought it was- and had complimented him as a beautiful Girl!!!! ((((;

Aztec Dancer on his way to the church's atrium where they had a performance later that afternoon.... during the 9-day long Fiestas de San Andres in Ajijic, Mexico..

what's cooking? by uteart

what's cooking?

nothing on my stove !!!

just warming myself up in the kitchen on this cold fall-
winter morning..... in my medieval life... brrrr!!

i am living a mile high in an unheated house in Mexico ((((:
........ not that any houses have heat here, beacause yes, the sun shines every day in Mexico and will warm our world up from 8 C to 25 C in no time during the day.
But for the mornings and evenings.... brrrr.... some houses have fire places and other homeowners have bought eletrical space heaters... or like me, yes, i have fire places, but most often i am using 2 electrical radiators, the ones that warm up the circling oil they contain, and radiate quite a bit of heat (((:

Mexico City, Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende are situated higher- and thus colder yet!

hope this finds you all warm and snug my dear friends !!! -- be right back... got to make some hot tea (((:

PS: this is a clay water jug, it keeps drinking water fresh and natural tasting.

~the miraculous gran finale~ by uteart

~the miraculous gran finale~

The Ring !!
a miracle
an omen
what is it?

While shooting the explosions of some 50 rockets being launched simultaniously, i suddenly noticed this ring - it must have somehow developed from all that smoke !! ?? i'm glad i got a shot of it, i never seen anything like it ... and nobody else took notice of it!!

Well, this concludes my Coheteros-, the Rocketeers series... which i photographed within a 30 minute time frame.... during which 1300 rockets were being shot into the sky at 12:00 noon that day. - here is the set fof my Rocketeer shots: www.flickr.com/photos/uteart/sets/72157622913896176/

Ajijic's Fiesta honoring this village's Patriot Saint, San Andres !!
For the period of 9 days every day a different trade or profession will host and pay for shooting off hundreds of rockets. the first ones at 6am - then 12 noon - then7pm.... and the Rocket-Castle at 11pm at night.

Saturday was the Bricklayer's turn, always the loudest day of them all!! I went to the yard behind the church from where they'll be launching the rockets. This aparently is not for the public, it's a dangerous undertaking and the gates were closed behind the coheteros. And i was locked in with them, nobody has told me to leave... they let me take pictures!!!

All of a sudden i noticed 5 men were lighting up cigarettes, then the "supplier' brought bundles of rockets and the coheteros started lighting them with their cigarettes, one after the other, holding them between two fingers until they had catched fire before letting go. This is a dangerous and critical moment, because almost instantly after ignition, a huge fire beam would shoot from the rocket to the ground as the rocket was launched... hand-held!!! A total of 1300 rockets were shot up into the air, in a 30-minute time frame, accompanied by a concert of ringing church bells.

Most rockets were launched bare handed, others were launched all lined up and stuck in some wooden- or metal frame support. Thus, by igniting the first one, some 50+ rockets would explode simultaneously... like machine-gunfire, Wow, what an experience!!!! - I took a few hundred shots (in brackets), just to catch that beam of fire, but neither the fire-beam, nor the explosions of the rockets up in the blue sky showed up much on my images taken in broad daylight, just a lot of smoke. I will look for a night shot in my archives, where the beam of fire is very visible and impressive.
