TERENGGANU, Malaysia (July 1, 2009) Amphibious assault vehicles transporting U.S. Marines and soldiers from the Malaysian Army 9th Royal Malay Regiment pass the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) as they lay a smoke screen during a combined amphibious landing exercise on the final day of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2009. CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
