Scroll down to the Comments section to see what the fuss is all about!
If you're interested in playing, let me know. We're still open for entries!
Have you looked at others' pictures and wondered how much and what kind of post-processing has gone into the photo? Sometimes its obvious and other times it is so subtle that you wonder if anything was done to the photo at all. These days what you do to a photo is probably as important as how you took it.
Here's my experiment. I want to see what YOU can do to this unedited image using ANY image editing software. I intentionally picked an average image of general interest with many possibilities.
This is NOT a contest for the best post-processed image. I'm NOT looking for the best, right, or creative approach to this image. All I want to know is this - if you had taken this shot, what would you have done before uploading it on flickr?Maybe you'll just do an auto-fix, maybe you'll make it look different or maybe you'll go completely nuts. I want to see where you go to make this look right for you! No rules.
Please add the edited photo in the comments section below (in the same dimensions/size as the one seen above) on Friday morning, whenever that is in your part of the world. If you could, please explain in detail what you did to the picture and why.
I was going to ask all of you to email me your masterpieces but decided to go with the honor system instead. No cheating folks, let's not suck the fun out of a silly experiment by getting competitive here. :-D Please don't be tempted to look at others' versions until you're ready to post. And even if yours looks similar to someone else's, it's okay, go ahead and add it.
Since I have a free account, I cannot offer you this photo to download. If you send me a flickr mail with your alternate email address, I will be more than happy to email the original picture for you to monkey with.
Please feel free to upload your version in your stream; it is after all, your creation! A link to the original photo (this one) would be nice. :-)

I'm game for a group like that too...! Not a bad idea at all...it should be open to all...doesn't have to have a particular admin...maybe a couple for namesake....and everyone can put in their ideas and like you said, take turns to 'host'...since this was such a hit!! :))
and yeah, LOL@Yemme....hehehehe...your poor friend...hope she knows how's she's being introduced on your flickr page! :D

I thought this would drive her to join flickr. But Yemme, true to her name, swished her tail, grunted a complaint, let this indignity slide down her back and went back to grazing. And yep, I'm still her best friend, she says.
I'll keep you posted on our stream corner cafe (like street corner cafe) for next month. alternate names are welcome...

Sorry, I put this aside and it got overlooked for a while. Hopefully you are a believer in the aphorism "better late than never"... : )

Isn't it almost time for the next project? ;-)

Everyone is doing a great job, and I am, as usual, impressed by flickrites. But I must admit, the only one that seems (in just my view) to improve on the original is the tighter crop.
Hey, it's a damn good original!

Better late than never to add an entry! I thought the flowers might be a bit lonely...
...plus some added color saturation for a more 'fantasy-like' look. Hope you like it!

Eric, thank you so much for doing this! I love that spider web and the varying dof on each of the creatures. :-)

Nice imagery, I would like to submit an edited image. My play would be like this: www.flickr.com/photos/29989483@N00/3484371756/
The original photo is very nice. The editing techniques I use prior to posting include a crop to make the imagery nices, using the rule-of-thirds in photography. I adjust exposure and upload to Flickr. Then I go to the individual photo page and select edit photo at top of photo (Picnik). From there I readjust exposure, and sharpen. Then I use the create function to boost color and adjust for desired intensity. I usually also select a frame, and adjust inner and outer frames. Sometimes, I also select sandbox in Picnik, to create a starburst appearance. The center of the starburst can by adjusted by clicking on the spot that you want to be the center of the starburst. Circle splash and HSL filter are the two features I use most often. Then you can save the photo by replacing your uploaded photo or saving as new photo which is what I did at my webpage. I saved the download, and saved the edited photo seperate.
