Winston and Teresa Pike raise free range meat chickens on their family farm in Kentucky. The chickens stay in their shelters with electric netting and dogs to protect them from predators. A drip line on each shelter allows for a garden hose to be connected in order to supply fresh water for the chickens in their shelter. The Pikes have been working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has been assisting them with managing their farm in a way that benefits the land, the animals and the farmers utilizing sustainable agriculture plan.
