Egg Carton Creativity - 1 of 2 photos by urbanwoodswalker

Egg Carton Creativity - 1 of 2 photos

Playing around with a new concept. There are special challenges to this one.

I have always loved paper egg cartons. I remember as a child holding them, enjoying the softness and textures, and of course the great graphics of a world I so badly wanted to live in....

...A farmland like my Catskill New York grandparents. So many fantasies are locked inside an egg carton like this...happy chickens and sunshine. The graphics on this carton delude to the farm of the 1920s, certainly not of today. No chicaken laying these eggs will ever see the light of dayk, let alone blazing sunshine. Factory farms where baby roosters go off to become McNuggets and KFC, and the ladies...well a life of non stop laying in dark confinement.

The nostalgia of yore plays heavy in the selling of modern day eggs. What "Dutch" farm girl dresses like this in the 20th century? You gotta love modern advertising and marketing...and I do. :-)

I think its clear this will eventually be a necklace of some sort when I find time to figure out some of the challenges.

Pin 1 ~ "Pastel" Detail by urbanwoodswalker

Pin 1 ~ "Pastel" Detail

This series of soft retro looking felt brooches just happened unplanned one day. I let my inner child play and came up with something quite different.

My favorite kind of jewelry to wear is not metal, or "bling." In fact, I often wear things that are made out of non traditional materials, and might be soft as in a textile brooch. I like to use all sorts of materials in ways that have not been done before.

This brooch has layers of handcut felt, tiny metal brads, and a hand sewn pin back.

since I love deer, I like to think as this as a year round wearable art ...especially in spring..when love is in the air. ;-)
