      An intense portrait.

I'm almost afraid to look into her eyes.

It seems she is looking at us and not the other way around.

Strong portait... she is framed well by her hair. I like the BW conversion.

      Nicely done.

The simplicity of this from her pose and expression to the use of black and white give this portrait an usual intensity.

she sure is pretty but why does her woshy her distract me so much and i belife you did something more that "slight" touch on her skin...

    21. nickehret (91 months ago | reply)

Don't like how her hair leaves the top and right of the frame. Her face seems straight on, while her shoulders seems slightly skewed, which makes it uncomfortable. Some more tone variation would be nice.

her face makes me uncomfortable. it's as if her eyes don't go with the rest of her body, maybe because of the direction in which they're looking, or because of the skewed shoulders

I like it, though I would prefer a more tight cut only on face.

A good picture but the errant hairs on the right side should be removed.

a very good pic but not quite there because of the hair.

Good crop and focus on her face. Her hair adds a lot to the picture too.

She should have used a lip balm, her lips look like a dried out lake bed. Time should have been spent getting rid of some skin imperfections that really show at full size; a softer focus would have really helped. Why not in colour?

I think technically it's a very good shot, and I like the loose hair strands. But for me a portrait shot needs more of the subject's mood to make it into the Safe. She's pretty, but rather bland here.

@Alex: As mentioned in the description this is a headshot for an actors' agency file. In these shots the person should appear as they actually are, i.e. with skin imperfections, messy hair etc whatever..This is why you can do "some" retouchgin but only really a little bit. If this was a proper model shoot, you'd obviously do much more...also these shots are always in b&w..don't really know why to be honest...

~it's a damn good portrait, nice tones, striking model, xlnt interaction w/ your lens...it's worth coming back for another look~

I was about to agree with Norah and say that the comp is too loose, but then I read your explanation about the actor's headshot style.

Still, the sloping shoulders bug me, and a little more catchlight in the eyes would liven her up a lot. I like the texture in her sweater, but that slight angle she's at puts her left side just out of the DOF. And her chest is hot, but in the bad way.

      Nice background and separation, though.

@Stet: So what was the problem with my explanation then that made you change your mind?

    33. kimberkit (91 months ago | reply)

The tilt in her shoulders, as Nick says (I think I'm going to be doing a lot of "what nick said..." today :P) is just really bothersome for the straight-on-ness of the shot. Plus the pupils in her eyes lack light. Plus you could use some sharpness outlining her eyes, like most portrait photogs do.

    34. stet (91 months ago | reply)

@UrbanD: whoops, I was about to agree with her on the crop, not the save.
Your explanation is fine; I just meant I wouldn't judge it for being loose. I would prefer something more like what the default square does.
