Preparing for the conference on Somalia in London

In preparation for the international conference on Somalia in London, scheduled for 7th May, a core group of ambassadors and international organisations gathered in Mogadishu on 14 March to discuss on the key issues. The UN was represented by SRSG Augustine P. Mahiga and DSRSG Peter de Clercq. Ambassadors from EU, USA, Japan, Norway, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, AMISOM, World Bank and many more. The meeting took place in the Civil Aviation conference centre and focused on the Federal Government's priorities and discussed in particular rebuilding the armed forces, police, coastguard; justice sector; preventing sexual violence; public financial management system, trade and investment and political stability. The meeting was co-chaired by Somalia's Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fawzia Yusuf H. Adam and the UK FCO Director for Africa, Nick Kay. CREDIT: ISMINI PALLA, UNPOS PIO
