Nepalese Battalion received UN Medal9
Members of the Nepalese first reserve battalion received the UN Medal for their service and sacrifice in South Sudan during a special parade held in Juba on September 10, 2018. The battalion has been serving in the conflict-affected country since October 2017, protecting civilians across the country through patrolling, facilitating the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to people in need as well as a creating a secure environment for internally displaced people living in UN protection camps. Nepal has been contributing peacekeepers to UN missions across the world for 60 years. During that time, 63 Nepalese peacekeepers have lost their lives serving under the UN flag.
