Grand Prize Winner: Homer Phog Allen
UNICAHOME: Congratulations Homer on winning the grand prize cat in box photo contest. Which box are u going to select? Are you a fire-cat, pilot, or tank commander?
HOMER: I am thrilled to win the contest and thank everyone that voted and all the judges. In fact, I will be meowing all the way to the bank –I mean tank! I just turned 1 year old on February 26th. After much thought, I am picking the tank. I think I need a combat vehicle because my older sister, Foxxy Cleocatra, who entered the contest and did not place, is always after me-even more since she heard the news! My Mom will take a picture (or 20) of me in the tank-she is actually going to Las Vegas on Thursday.
Just in case anyone wonders, my first name Homer is one of my Mom’s grandfather’s name and and the name of an architect who mentored her when she was young. My middle names, Phog Allen, are taken from the man that coached at the University of Kansas and is known as the “Father of Basketball Coaching”. He played under James Naismith, the inventor of basketball and founder of KU basketball. I was born in Lawrence Kansas, home of the 2008 NCAA Basketball Champions, the KU Jayhawks-it also happens to be my Mom’s alma mater…
