What can I say about my old quirky Motormatic....... Well, it's shutter speeds change randomly (and are very slow) Its aperture is inconsistant, it light leaks, it's viewfinder is knocked over to one side/low and sits at about a 35 degree angle so framing is hit or miss. Oh and the clockwork crank that powers this beast is, well.........charming to say the least.
Believe it or not though I love this camera! Not because it gives me what I want or does what it is meant to do well but because it does exactly what IT wants to do. Its like shooting a really messed up Holga. The fun comes from not knowing what to expect, from hoping for happy accidents instead of technical accuracy and good exposure. I find it relaxing and it keeps on giving me shots I love...
Give a camera like this one a try if you can, you just might like it!!!
