You could also add this to DigitalPhotographyBlogs.com's weekly challenge: Black and White. It's for photos of black and white things, as opposed to black and white photos.

The last time I told somebody this, they won the challenge for the week. Let's see if I've still got "the touch."

I had the same problem, looked perfect on here but not great on print, so had to blindly play till I got it.pain in the arse:-)

Thanks for commenting. I replaced the photo with a better edited one. Extraction was done via a blown down curves layer, so I could see the background

I really dig this idea, I have read the article about it at the DIY blog quite some time ago but had forgotten all about it, so thanks for reposting! It's great how the 2D black stripes still manage to create a sense of depth.

If I ever find a nice girlfriend I'll certainly produce my own version of this shot!
