This pass is the 2nd pass after Manali crossing over Rohtang and towards Leh. Situated at a height of 16500ft above MSL, rivers Chandra and Bhaga originate from here and is known as The Chenab further down south.
The himalayan ranges were formed when the Indian subcontinent collided with the Asian landmass millions of years ago. The ladakh region is a testament of this having sculptures that were once under the sea.
