decrepit capsules
"Nakagin Capsule Tower," built as an innovative and experimental architectural piece (the capules are designed to be replaceable), now stanes as a decrepit monstrosity that generates controversy over its future.
We came across the building purely by chance. It was easy to see the point made by the opponents of its tear-down that it's an architectural landmark. It is definitely very different from anything else around it. But at the same time, the decrepitude was quite obvious--nobody "replaced" the capsules as intended. Apparently most of the capsules are used as office spaces now, although a sign on the entrance door claimed that it was a "manshion" (a term used in Japan to refer to higher-end apartments and condominiums) and not "a capsule hotel." A hotel or a condo, I wouldn't be thrilled to spend more than a few hours in this building! Commentsbnz says:There are a lot of good photos of this place

Freaky enough without reminding me of the movie "The Cube".
