Humpback whales resting at the surface.

Or at least that's what it seemed like they were doing. The pair would surface, breath and then just drift down (not moving forward). Then a little push from their tail or flippers and they'd come up again about 15 seconds later (never fully submerging) and take another breath. This cycle lasted about 3 minutes. Then they just dove down ... stayed down, came up and repeated.
