gaijin (pronounced 'guy-jean') is the word for 'foreigner' (non-japanese person). these 3 seated gaijin are 3 of my 5 friends who met us in japan (they are vietnamese americans who live in houston). i snapped this pic of them when the woman in kimono hopped on the train.
ungatonipon and amanda SAN added this photo to their favorites.

What an amazing shot, Tammy. Your friends in western clothing alongside the woman in the kimono is really, really, really good!! i had no idea people still wore that kind of clothing regularly. i gotta get my butt to japan.

i don't recognize any of them by this picture, but I may know their names. Were her siblings younger? If so, I doubt I knew them, but my younger brother & sister might've. and no doubt i will be reaching out to you when I finally plan a trip to japan! thank you so much for the offer!
